Onagre Agent
Overview
The Onagre Agent is a key component of the Onagre monitoring ecosystem, responsible for executing checks on defined resources and reporting results back to the platform.
Public Agents (Managed by Onagre)
Onagre provides multiple Public Agents, fully managed and hosted within Onagre's cloud infrastructure. These agents are available by default to all users and enable monitoring of publicly accessible resources without requiring any installation or configuration.
- Multiple agents deployed and maintained by Onagre.
- Run on the public internet to check accessible web resources.
- Provide redundancy and load balancing for optimal monitoring coverage.
Private Agents (User-Deployed)
For organizations needing to monitor internal, private, or restricted resources, Onagre provides the ability to deploy Private Agents within their own infrastructure.
Private Agents come in two types:
Core Agents — System health monitoring
Core Agents provide essential system-level monitoring: CPU, memory, disk, uptime, and load average. They are ideal for teams that want reliable host health checks with zero sensor configuration.

Advanced Agents — Full monitoring capabilities
Advanced Agents include everything in Core and unlock all 14 sensor types — HTTP, databases, certificates, network checks, and more. They are designed for organizations needing deep, full-stack observability.
Available exclusively with Enterprise plans. Learn more →
Core vs Advanced at a Glance
| Core Agent | Advanced Agent | |
|---|---|---|
| Plan required | Pro or higher | Enterprise |
| System metrics (CPU, memory, disk, uptime) | ||
| Auto-created sensors (Heartbeat + Server) | ||
| All 14 sensor types (HTTP, SQL, Ping, etc.) | ||
| Agent load monitoring | ||
| Best for | Host health & small teams | Full-stack & enterprise |
Security and Data Protection
- TLS Encryption: All communications between agents and the Onagre platform are encrypted.
- Minimal Data Exchange: Agents transmit only required monitoring results.
- Secret Management: Sensitive credentials (e.g., database passwords, API keys) are never sent to Onagre. For Private Agents, secrets remain stored locally in the configuration file.
Summary
Onagre offers a flexible agent ecosystem:
- Public Agents for scalable, no-setup monitoring of external resources.
- Core Agents for host-level health monitoring on Pro plans and above.
- Advanced Agents for full-stack monitoring on Enterprise plans.
Together, they provide a unified, secure monitoring solution that adapts to any environment — from small teams to enterprise-scale infrastructures.
